Canadian Departments, Associations, and Boards
In all provinces of Canada there is a Workmen’s Compensation Board or Commission. Some of these handle accident prevention directly. In other provinces there are provisions similar to Section 110 of the Quebec Workmen’s Compensation Act, which stipulates “that industries included in any of the classes under Schedule I may form themselves into an Association for accident prevention and formulate rules for that purpose. Further, the Workmen’s Compensation Commission that an Association so formed sufficiently represents the employers in the industries included in the class, may make a special grant toward the expense of any such Association.”

This Branch is responsible for the implementation and administration of the Canada Labor Code Part IV and pursuant regulations which became effective January 1, 1968, and deals primarily with Occupational Safety and Health.
